Enchanting Artwork on a budget

Add caption
Original water colour painted by my Great Uncle
Purchased for $10 from the council Tip Shop. I painted the frame white. Original oil colour.
Original pencil drawing. Purchased for $8 from the local church thrift shop.
Original oil painting from my Nan's house, possibly painted by an old neighbour of hers.
Original water colour , purchased from a lifeline shop for $7, I painted the frame white.

All these artworks pulled together really add to my blue, white and green theme. They were not expensive, so I don't have to be too serious about it. If I get bored of it one day, it can be changed for something else (but I don't think I will ever get bored with them as I love them so much!)

This is one of my many favorite photos..

This is when Toby was maybe almost 2 years old. He was helping Danny in the courtyard. Eventually we had to rip down that "pergola" you see in the background as the timber was so rotten. Toby will be 7 in 2 weeks. How fast time goes with when you have young children. We are really trying to cherish all the beautiful and  fun times we share with them whilst they are young.

The Emerald City...

I have borrowed my Mums camera (thank you) so that I can take lots of close up photos of things around my home. My phone camera is not that good for close ups! For some reason, I love moss. I have not touched up these photos at all of the moss growing on our courtyard garden border. It is bright fluro green and looks and feels like velvet. It reminded me of the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz (one of my favourite movies of all time!)

My reading nook...

This is a little corner of our study. The cane chair was part of a set that my parents had years ago. They gave it to us when I first moved out of home and we used it as our lounge chairs for many years. That would make it at least 20 years old! During our mass de-clutter, I finally sold of the rest of the set but kept just this one chair and painted it white. Its a cozy little corner that I just sit in and read sometimes when I need to escape the noise of the TV and the kids. The square picture box is from IKEA, placed inside a servery which is no longer used. It contains sentimental things such as my Nans metal travel cups, Eiffel towers we bought in Paris, Nans perfume filled yellow Avon bird and a shell we got on holiday when I was child from the Solomon Islands.

Its the right kind of weather to be snuggled up under a blanket reading at the moment .

Our back deck at the moment..

The last few days have been gorgeous sunshine, but with the coolness of autumn setting in. It is really "easter-y" weather. We had Dans lovely Aunt and Uncle over and we all had a lovely time feasting and talking. You can see I made my Pineapple and coconut cake. I will post the recipe really soon, as a few people have been asking for it. It so easy to do too.

New Houses...

Even though we love our homes as it has so much character, we sometimes  wish for a home that is brand new. With smooth, straight plaster walls, colours that we have chosen  ourselves and we wont be left asking why on earth did the old owners do that. We went and had a look and some beautifully done display homes, (Leesa, you might recognise where we where) I loved this ones layout but I really LOVED the interior design. One day, hopefully!

How cute is this little house?

I worked at Wynnum today and in my lunch break I had a lovely stroll in the sunshine down to the water. Just across the road from this teeny tiny house is a park to the waterfront. It would have full waterfront views. On either side of it are massive houses, this makes it look almost like a cubbyhouse. Imagine if it was painted all white, it would be gorgeous. I wonder who lives there and what's it is like inside?

A misty morning

It has been raining and overcast the last few weeks and I woke up early to see a beautiful mist over the mountain.
It was a gorgeous scene, this was taken whilst under a blanket on the couch looking over our back deck.

I love flowers!

On the entry table

On the back deck

In the Kitchen

To make the house look pretty, I bought a few cheap bunches of flowers and had fun doing a few arrangements with them. I actually always manage to have a vase of something in the house, usually just something pretty from the garden, sometimes maybe just some ginger leaves or some other greenery.

Sometimes, I pretend I'm in London or Paris

The days when I work in the city, I often notice how nice it all looks. In my head, I pretend that I could be working somewhere overseas, sometimes London, sometimes Paris. This photo was taken late afternoon when the farmers Markets where shutting up shop. I did buy a Chocolate French Macaroon and eat it, just to make it seem a bit more realistic that I was in Paris!
