Hardy winter plants...

I am loving all the gorgeous plants around at the moment. It's amazing the beautiful colours that are in bloom in winter. So many of these ones have a retro vibe happening.

Our basil is booming!

The basil is going banana's at the moment. It has gone to seed and it has small pretty white flowers, so I picked them and brought them inside to enjoy.

Little red riding hood: Anodised retro plant stands

Some more of my goodies sold on eBay to go to a new home. These plant holder where worse for wear after living out side for at least 30 years. So we sold them all together so that someone could take them on to restore them. I love the cherry red and I love the peachy champagne colour.

Retro plant stand makeover

How cool is this retro plant stand I have just parted with via ebay!

I gave it a makeover by giving it a good clean and de-rust and then several coats of hard wearing white gloss enamel paint, to give it years more life.
Before: It was a dark green.

Roses for a new begining...

The sadness of leaving my old home also has good bits, where I get to experience new things that I never would have if we had not moved.

Having enough roses blooming in the new garden to fill a vase has almost made it all worth it. I don't say that lightly. It is amazing what flowers can do in your life.

I have loved looking at them on my kitchen window sill, looking out at the beautiful view and watching the kids play.

Christmas shopping...

Wouldn't it be nice if all our Christmas shopping involved pulling up to a road side stall!

Whenever we see a stall like this we love to pull up and buy something, not only is the price great, but it's always great quality and supporting local businesses. My all time favorite is a stall that sells flowers picked from their own garden.

If I moved to the country, I would so be setting up a road side stall.

My little garden fairy...

Luckily we have water tank at our new house. We had installed 2 at our last house, so we can water the garden without guilt or worry about the water bill. It has been so dry lately and I really enjoy standing out there watering the flowers. Problem is, I only get to do it for about 4 seconds before one of the kids pull the hose of me with cries of "I want a go".
But anyway at least they have fun watering the garden too.
