Little girls bedroom makeover - before and after...

After
Before - same corner of the room

After

Before
After - Same angle as above

Room Details:

We have filled holes and cracks, painted ceiling and walls white and the wardrobe and window a semi gloss white. Removed the double curtains and replaced them with white block out roller blinds, the floors have been sanded and finished in a water based satin finish, The timber floors have turned out beautifully. Installed a new pendant light, wardrobe fixtures and a new door stop.

Due to all the hard work getting the walls all blemish free at the moment we are very reluctant to hang anything up on them and therefor having to put holes back in them. So for now, our walls have that minimalist look, which we are liking, but I am sure in a few years we may be ready to hang a few things up on the walls.

The only pics I had to use as the before photos are what I took during the building and pest inspection. It's a bit hard to compare different peoples furnishings, but it is a good example of how a room can be decluttered to make it look bigger and window treatments changed to make a room look brighter.

All furniture I have used is all reused from what I already owned. All of it is vintage hand me downs, lucky kerbside finds and op shop purchases, I painted a few of the items mint green, including the bedhead. The only new purchases are the Sheridan bedspread and the $5 kmart cloud pillow and the Flamingo pillow from Freedom.

My daughter is loving her room, It goes from spotlessly clean to extremely messy in a matter of minutes!

PS.. Sorry the photos are poor quality, they were taken on my phone, which is packing it in.

More eBay beauties... Shabby Chic french provincial chest of drawers

Now this one will be hard to part with!

I love it all, but I really love the pretty floral paper lining the drawers. This one is a beauty!

Another lovely rocking horse.

Miss E button craft idea...

Whenever an item of Evie's baby clothing became outgrown and too stained to pass on, I would cut the pretty buttons off the fabric before recycling the fabric for rags. By the time Evie was ready for her big girl room, I decided to do something with all these buttons.

I purchased a white cushion cover that had thin green stitched stripes on it. I then traced on a large 'E', PVA glued the buttons on to work out the colours and sizes, then stitched them in place. I gave this to Evie on her 3rd Birthday as a final touch to her new room.

Whenever I look at it, I can remember the outfits the buttons came from and it's a great way to save those precious baby memories.

My sewing is not the best in the world!

A look back at our old "Enchanthing Forest"...

It's been one year since we said goodbye to our beloved home of 15 years.

What now stays in my mind about this home are all the wonderful times we had there. The many parties, like my baby shower, kitchen tea for my best friend and many family birthday parties.

We lived here when we got married, went overseas and the most special moment was bringing our 2 babies to this home. We transformed our home slowly, from a small, out of date 2 bedroom home to a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with a deck making it look and work so much better. After a year away from it, I still miss this home. But we knew that after all that time it was time to move on to a new adventure.

Here's some of my favorite photos from my old home.

The side fence became divine every August with the amazing fragrance and beautiful look of the Jasmine

The newly renovated main bathroom.

These flowers sprung to life after it rained.

The front courtyard provided privacy and was like having an extra room.

Newly planted Lemon trees

We loved the result of the pressed metal wall and would consider doing it again in the next home

One of our last gatherings, to say goodbye to our home.

Before & After: Our main bedroom quick make-over on a budget

The finished room

Before: Mouldy ceilings, more than a normal amount of cat pictures, old carpet with animal hair all through it.

Curtains added by seller awaiting us upon purchase
As seen in the real estate ad.

After: Completely scrubbed clean, new charcoal carpet, recycled charcoal curtains from another room, our bed spray painted white by me, (with left over paint) and a new bedspread. All art work is re-used from the old house.

After: Mother of pearl art work made by me years ago for for last home
A few special touches added from mine and my family's trips overseas.

During, carpet removal. I considered just painting the floor gloss white but there is a massive crack in it revealing the dirt ground under the house.

Choosing the new carpet from the "budget" range. We only need the carpets to last for the next 2 years. They looked like office carpets, but I was happy enough with the one on the far right. We have been loving the fact it hides all marks.

Toby testing out the new carpet.

Planning and dreaming...

After owning the new house for a few weeks, I have finally mustered up a small amount of excitement about decorating the house. Its a cheap and quick makeover to help us enjoy the home for a while until our building project gets under way. We will be using as much existing possessions that we can and will have to be creative with it.You can see some before and afters soon.

For the main bedroom, we are getting it re-carpeted next week in a charcoal colour to match the existing charcoal curtains that we are swapping in from another room.

Here is a few of my inspiration pics from Pinterest.

yellow bedroom with grey and white
I'm still trying to decide on an extra colour to go with all the grey and white. Yellow  is nice.

Orange + gray bedroom
Orange perhaps?
Bedroom Gray
I love all shades of blue too.
grey bedroom #grey #bedroom #carpet
Maybe just all different shades of grey.
